The VMRG combined annual Monitoring Training weekend will be held at Wonga Hut Campground, Wyperfeld National Park on 10 & 11 October 2026.
The large camping ground where the event is held has composting toilets, limited water but no power and is suitable for all types of camping, including caravans. Training is mandatory for all new and prospective members before they become monitors. Training includes field work requirements, safety in the bush and use of the technology.
The program starts at noon on Saturday 10 October and ends after lunch on Sunday 11 October with lots of educational and fun activities planned.
For members, the cost of training is included in the membership fee, provided it is paid on or prior to the weekend. Saturday night dinner is a highlight of the weekend and catering is provided at a small fee. The catering charge covers Saturday evening meal with desserts, Sunday lunch and continuous hot water for refreshments. You will need to bring your own utensils. Self-catering is also an option.
Registration for the VMRG Training Weekend will open on 1 September 2026.
Registration closes on 1 October to assist with catering.
This is a fantastic weekend of activities and an opportunity to socialise with great people who are interested in conservation. New members and prospective members are most welcome.
Go to the new members section to become a member and you will receive an email when registration opens. If you are not a member and want to receive an alert email when registration opens use the Contact Us option on the VMRG website.
